Line Up was founded by Thomas Winther Andersen in 1995. Their second cd, "Out From A Cool Storage" was released by norcd in April 2004.
The band is one of a few contemporary jazz ensembles that have developed their music over many years of playing together. The collaboration between Guitarist Storm-Mathisen, Andersen and Sollid goes back to 1985. Although the band members live in three different countries they have met regularly to performe in Europe as well as the USA. The style of the band originates from "cool jazz" with reference to musicians such as Lennie Tristano, Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz, but their music also incorporates many elements of the later developments in jazz.

....... Very Listenable it is too.
Dagens Næringsliv 9/1 1999

........The project is carried out in a grand way, with eminent solo performances

Dagsavisen 10/1 99           The name Line Up originates from Lennie Tristano's famous variation of the same name, based on "All Of Me" from 1955. Tristano's solo seemed to be an impossibility. We think the impossible is a decent aim to have, hence the name of the band!
